SUBJECT Inspection of a wood-shaving boiler in accordance with current regulations (D.M.A.
5 February 1998)
(NOTE: DMA: Decree of the Italian Minister for the Environment)

Operating conditions during analyses
Analyses were carried out, on 17 December 1998, in the steady operating conditions of the plant for recovery of wood-shavings produced by joinery processing which takes place in the factory.
The plant was adjusted by Mr. Giacomo Mosole, legal representative of Mion & Mosole s.r.l., which is the company that installed the filtering plant.

Verification of compliance with the law
With reference to article 11 of the DMA. 5 February 1998, emissions are compliant both in quantity and in quality, as shown in the chemical analyses hereby attached, with the exception of carbon monoxide (CO).

Technical considerations
After an investigation on site, we can express a few consideration on the plant:

- as shown in the chemical analyses that were carried out, all parameters of emission in the out-flowing gas are below the limits of the DMA dated 5 February 1998, with the exception of carbon monoxide (CO).
The boiler mentioned above is not equipped with a suitable system to regulate automatically the air/fuel ratio during starting nor with a plant for continuous control of carbon monoxide, oxygen and temperature in the out-flowing gas. The automatic regulation system is required to achieve the correct combustion of the recycled waste.

- As far as the filtering plant is concerned, we recommend to install an opening-closing system of the filtering plant by-pass regulated by means of a temperature probe (min-max) installed at the exhaust of the multicyclone, in order to avoid ignition and condensation in the sleeves.

- A gangway must be installed to access the sampling point (chimney) of the emission into the atmosphere.

We remain at your disposal for any further clarification you may require.

Best regards,
Pieve di Soligo, 22 February 1999

CHEMICAL ANALYSIS No. 16012/99

SUBJECT: Analysis of emissions into the atmosphere (DPR 203.88)

NERVESA DELLA BATTAGLIA (TV)

Report drawn up on 7 January 99.

ANALYSIS OF EMISSIONS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE

WHEREAS: Under request of the company DOIMO CUCINE S.r.l. via Schiavonesca No. 78 - Nervesa della Battaglia (Treviso), on 17 December 1998, we took samples of emissions into the atmosphere of the wood-dust boiler for the production of thermal energy.

SAMPLING REPORT

- Sampling on the analysis points (chimneys) took place on 17 December 1998 from 9.45 am to 12.00, at the factory of the company:

DOIMO CUCINE S.r.l. via Schiavonesca No. 78 - Nervesa della Battaglia (Treviso)

during the normal production cycle of the company with the wood-dust boiler in normal operation.

- Sampling was carried out by personnel trained on the correct usage of the measuring instruments and under the coordination and responsibility of Dr. Marco Carretto.

Analysis and sampling methods:

Flow rate method UNICHIM No.467
Temperature Digital thermometer
Dusts method UNICHIM No.494
Metals method UNICHIM n°723
VOC method UNICHIM n°631
Nitrogen oxides method UNICHIM n°587
Sulfur oxides method UNICHIM n°507
Hydrochloric acid method UNICHIM n°621
Hydrofluoric acid method UNICHIM n°620

- Table A describes the sampling points.

- Table B shows the analytical values found in the sampled emissions.

Analysis of the samples, taken from the sampling points, were carried out at the VOCECO Srl laboratories - Marostica (Vicenza)
Analytical methods applied: UNICHIM
Instruments used:
- Darcy tube with differential manometer (Magnehelich)
- Hot-wire anemometer
- Digital thermometer
- Zambelli model ZB2 samplers
- Double cone probe with nozzle for isokinetic sampling
- Glass scrubbers
